OUR ROOTS

 

The Perdido Coffee company was founded by a Canadian entrepreneur who was looking for a change and an adventure. He traveled to Nicaragua to explore the geography and fell in love with the people, the culture, and most importantly, the coffee. It was after that first sip that his new business venture that was destined to be what is today, the world class Perdido Coffee.

After feeling the undeniable draw to life in Nicaragua, the Perdido Coffee creator began his search for the perfect coffee farm. Months had passed without finding the perfect finca. On one sunny day, he found himself LOST while taking the “chicken bus” and coming to an intersection called “El Guyacan”.  Perdido, meaning lost in Spanish was born. The cascading waterfalls, giant trees shrouding the land in loving shade, and the roar of the Congo’s - he was completely lost in its beauty, which is how the company came to be Perdido Coffee.

Our first farm became known as Finca El Perdido. Our second farm, Finca El Cristal exists higher up in the mountains above the clouds with a view of the world beneath. Harvesters of what becomes Perdido Coffee,  proudly hand-pick and select only the perfect cherries. Perdido Coffee’s Arabica beans are lovingly grown from just a tiny seed in the earth all the way to that delicious, sensory experience in a cup.
